Application Terms of Service
Please read these Terms of Service ("Terms") carefully before using The Callsheet (https://callsheet.quest), a daily cinema puzzle game, film trivia dispatch, and social movie club platform (the "Service"). By accessing or playing The Callsheet, or by signing in to create a Cinephile Pass account, you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy.
1. Description of Service
The Callsheet provides free-to-play daily movie puzzles ("The Daily Reel"), weekly trivia episodes, solo trivia packs, awards-season Pick'ems, Watercooler debate polls, and optional group leagues ("Office Pools" and "Film Clubs"). You may play as an unauthenticated Guest or sign in via Google OAuth, GitHub OAuth, Email & Password, or Magic Link to synchronize your scores, streaks, and badges across devices.
2. Eligibility & Account Registration
- Minimum Age: You must be at least 13 years of age (or the minimum age of digital consent in your jurisdiction) to create an account and use the Service.
- Account Security: You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all gameplay or league activity occurring under your account.
- Accurate & Respectful Profiles: When choosing a display name/handle, creating a Custom Squad, or naming an Office Pool / Film Club, you agree not to impersonate others or use unlawful, hateful, defamatory, or harassing language.
3. Fair Play & Acceptable Use
To keep daily puzzles, seasonal trivia, and league leaderboards fun and fair for all cinephiles, you agree not to:
- Use automated scripts, bots, spiders, or scrapers to submit guesses, farm points, or interact with the Service;
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, decrypt, or extract daily puzzle answers or trivia keys from client bundles or network traffic to gain an unfair leaderboard advantage;
- Tamper with API requests, database records, or score submissions to artificially inflate individual, department, or squad standings;
- Interfere with or disrupt the security, integrity, or performance of the Service or its underlying infrastructure (Supabase and Cloudflare).
We reserve the right to reset manipulated scores, remove inappropriate team or display names, or suspend accounts that violate these fair-play guidelines.
4. Recreational Play Only (No Gambling or Monetary Prizes)
Bragging Rights Only: All "Office Pools," "Pick'ems," "Season Standings," and "Trophies" on The Callsheet are strictly free-to-play, recreational trivia competitions. Points, ranks, and virtual prop badges have no cash value, cannot be exchanged for money or real-world goods, and may not be used for unlawful wagering or gambling.
5. Intellectual Property & Fair Use Notice
- Platform & Code: The Callsheet application design, original trivia writing, interface layout, Otto the Lot Cat mascot, and source code are the property of The Callsheet and are protected by applicable copyright and intellectual property laws.
- Film References & Commentary: Movie titles, release years, director and actor names, brief dialogue quotes, and reference stills featured in puzzles and trivia are used solely for editorial commentary, film criticism, educational appreciation, and trivia identification purposes under fair use principles. All motion picture titles, characters, posters, and stills remain the property of their respective studios and copyright holders. The Callsheet is an independent fan and trivia platform and is not endorsed by or affiliated with any motion picture studio or the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
6. User-Generated League Content
When you create or join an Office Pool, Film Club, or Custom Squad, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to display the league name, department names, squad taglines, and your display handle to other users of the Service so that leaderboards and invite codes function as intended.
7. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT GUARANTEE THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR THAT GAMEPLAY STREAKS OR SCORES STORED IN LOCAL BROWSER STORAGE WILL BE PRESERVED IF YOU CLEAR YOUR BROWSER DATA WITHOUT SIGNING IN.
8. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL THE CALLSHEET OR ITS CREATORS, OPERATORS, OR AFFILIATES BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, GOODWILL, OR PROFITS, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR ACCESS TO OR USE OF (OR INABILITY TO ACCESS OR USE) THE SERVICE.
9. Termination & Account Deletion
You may stop using the Service at any time and may request deletion of your account and associated profile data as described in our Privacy Policy. We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at our discretion if you violate these Terms.
10. Changes to These Terms
We may revise these Terms from time to time. The most current version will always be posted at https://callsheet.quest/terms with the updated "Effective Date." By continuing to use the Service after revisions become effective, you agree to be bound by the updated Terms.
